I’m well aware many of you will be wondering, what really is economics? Well I could tell you the scientific definition you may have googled or how I would describe it from my perspective (having studied it for 3 years, starting my 4th year in September 2019 2nd year A levels) Economics is the study of everything around you, and I literally mean everything. From the device you’re reading this blog from to the material of your shirt, it’s everywhere. A bit creepy I’m aware. But that’s what I believe makes it so captivating, it’s the study of the real world, right here, right now.

As young people many of us complain the curriculum doesn’t teach us life skills and the real world around us but economics does, it builds on it. You learn about the circulation of money around the economy but also the importance of consumers, suppliers and government roles to how we have basic necessities to luxuries available and how their prices are set or why prices increase or decrease over time( inflation.) I’m sure you get it, there’s a never ending amount to learn as there is so much history but also the future yet to be discovered.

A reason why I want to blog about economics, is to express my views on the present economy right now but also encourage young people to get involved and do the same. Young economists right now will be making the future hence it’s important for us all to be aware of the surroundings and events in the global economy from now. Thanks for reading, I’ll be updating in a weeks time. Janoo xx
